This story from Scotland criticises Sheriff Robert McCreadie, who allowed 65-year old Wayne Barrett to keep his car – even though he admitted to two offences involving drink- and drug-driving. He was banned for two years. Barrett played the \u201cneed independence and have a sick wife\u201d card and won.<\/p>\n
McCreadie also banned charity worker, Daniel Peach, for two years when he should have banned him for a minimum of three, according to the law. Peach was double the current drink-drive limit, and already had a previous drink-drive conviction less than 10 years ago, which means a mandatory three year ban.<\/p>\n
