{"id":1189,"date":"2009-06-05T23:11:18","date_gmt":"2009-06-05T22:11:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1189"},"modified":"2022-11-05T18:28:53","modified_gmt":"2022-11-05T18:28:53","slug":"kneeling-chair-project-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1189","title":{"rendered":"Kneeling Chair Project #3"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s an update to my on going project (Part 1 <a title=\"Kneeling Chair Project - Part 1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1120\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a> and <a title=\"Kneeling Chair Project - Part 1 (update)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1130\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>, Part 2 <a title=\"Kneeling Chair Project - Part 2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1158\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>) to build a kneeling chair .<\/p>\n<p>Also take a look at the <a title=\"Kneeling Chair Part #3 Update\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=1193\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Part #3 Update here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The diagram below &#8211; you can call it a blueprint or whatever (I make no claims in that area) &#8211; shows the holes and necessary cut outs for the support struts I am going to fabricate from the steel I purchased recently.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2584 lazyload\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 699px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 699\/768;float: none; margin: 5px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline;\" title=\"Kneeling Chair Parts - Drilled Holes And Cuts\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/06\/kneeling_chair_parts_holes_a.gif\" alt=\"Kneeling Chair Parts - Drilled Holes And Cuts\" width=\"699\" height=\"768\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" \/> Don&#8217;t forget that I am using some of the parts from my existing chair, and that explains some of the oddities (e.g. the 9mm holes, the hole spacings on the seat plate, and so on).<\/p>\n<p>The plans above should make sense &#8211; the 9mm holes are in the sides of the A and B struts, and there are a set of 5mm holes in the top faces of the B struts for the knee-cushion to be fixed to. All the holes go through both faces of the struts.<\/p>\n<p>At the bottom end of the A and B struts, in the side faces, there needs to be a cut out 30mm across (the width of the box section metal) and with a radius of curvature of \u00be&#8221; (so it fits the 1\u00bd&#8221; diameter tube which forms the feet of the chair).<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve spent a few hours over each night of the last week sanding the parts to remove corrosion and oil coating, cutting out the curved notches, and drilling holes. I&#8217;m hoping to at least start the assembly over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EDIT:<\/strong> If you came to this page from a search engine, don&#8217;t forget to look for Kneeling Chair Project parts (#1), #2, #3, and #4 (plus a couple of updates) using the site search facility.
