The slogan \u201cToo Big. Too Close\u201d has been used on signs erected by almost all those living there \u2013 and by many in Burton Joyce.<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 524px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 524\/288;background-image: none; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 5px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"Stoke Bardolph next to the Trent\" alt=\"Stoke Bardolph next to the Trent\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/stoke_b.jpg\" width=\"524\" height=\"288\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/p>\n<p>So it is interesting to note that in spite of all that, <a title=\"Stoke Bardolph wind turbine: Council backs Severn Trent plan\" href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/uk-england-nottinghamshire-24146173\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gedling Borough Council has voted in favour of the plans<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Severn Trent is also involved in this. To those who don\u2019t know, they are the people who cannot handle a phone call to report a water leak \u2013 behaving as though they\u2019ve never had one before \u2013 and who, even when the leak is acknowledged and identified, will ignore it for weeks or months. After that, standard procedure is to dig a hole, erect temporary traffic lights, and then do sod all for at least a fortnight.<\/p>\n<p>Still, being part of Nottinghamshire\u2019s councils, I suppose Gedling Borough Council has to find <strong>some<\/strong> way of ruining the countryside. Being so close to the river means that approving plans to build thousands of houses is always going to be a non-starter.
