{"id":14229,"date":"2013-10-26T10:13:40","date_gmt":"2013-10-26T09:13:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=14229"},"modified":"2023-05-22T15:00:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-22T14:00:34","slug":"lesson-dont-argue-with-the-police","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=14229","title":{"rendered":"Lesson: Don&#8217;t Argue With The Police"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>You\u2019d think that being over the drink drive limit, having no licence, and no insurance would mean that you\u2019d give the police a wide berth if you were driving past them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mind you, to get like that in the first place you\u2019d probably have had a certain kind of upbringing \u2013 and therefore if you saw your father, for example, as you drove by, and noticed that <strong>he<\/strong> had been stopped by the police for some reason, then you might decide to go and poke your nose in and see if you could \u201chelp\u201d (even though there is no recorded case of some caveman ever managing to successfully \u201chelp\u201d another caveman when he has interfere with police business like this).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And <a title=\"Gormless driver arrested after stopping to talk to police while over alcohol limit\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mirror.co.uk\/news\/uk-news\/gormless-driver-arrested-after-stopping-2528207\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this is what happened to Leon Fitzpatrick<\/a> from Sunderland. He\u2019d been on the booze the night before and as he was driving to work he saw that his father had been pulled over. Up to this point the police weren\u2019t even aware of his existence. But then he decided to go and poke his nose in, and that was when the officers noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. Naturally, routine checks then identified the breaches of licence conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His defence lawyer was Anna Haq \u2013 a name which I recognise from a story not long ago, but which I haven\u2019t bothered to look up. Her pathetic mitigating comments were:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>He would never have been arrested if he had not got out of that vehicle, there was no evidence of bad driving.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Ah, well that\u2019s OK then.
