{"id":14531,"date":"2013-12-25T14:20:17","date_gmt":"2013-12-25T14:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=14531"},"modified":"2013-12-25T14:20:17","modified_gmt":"2013-12-25T14:20:17","slug":"black-star-riders-nottingham-rock-city","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=14531","title":{"rendered":"Black Star Riders @ Nottingham Rock City"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019m a bit late putting this one up, but I went to see Black Star Riders at Nottingham\u2019s Rock City on 12 December 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, Black Star Riders is the renamed Thin Lizzy \u2013 the renaming was so that they could start playing new material. Mind you, Scott Gorham is the only original Lizzy member in the band, so in that sense they are not merely a renamed Lizzy. But none of that matters, because it\u2019s mostly about the music, anyway.<\/p>\n<p>The support band was Dead Daisies, but I didn\u2019t get to hear them other than about half of their last song. I can\u2019t really comment beyond that. There was also another support band, but I certainly didn\u2019t get to hear them. We arrived late for various reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, it was a great performance \u2013 difficult to tell it apart from the <a title=\"Thin Lizzy @ Leeds O2 Academy\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=4667\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Thin Lizzy gig I went to in Leeds<\/a> a couple of years ago in many respects, other than for the new material. In any case, the new material is very Lizzy-like. The band line-up is different to last time but they still play with power and passion. With Whisky In The Jar and Rosalie as the encore, it couldn\u2019t have been anything else.<\/p>\n<p>We finished with an indifferent curry in the Mogal-e-Azam (far too much Methi in the Chicken Methi, making it bitter \u2013 and even I know that \u201cfresh methi\u201d isn\u2019t better than \u201cdried methi\u201d, because the two things have totally different uses.
