About 80% of them are \u201cfronting\u201d \u2013 using insurance in the name of a parent when they are the main drivers. I\u2019ve <a title=\"Insurance &ldquo;Fronting&rdquo; &ndash; Defined\" href=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=6858\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">written about fronting before<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As unpalatable as it may be, fronting amounts to not having any insurance. If you had an accident, the insurer would refuse to pay out because the insurance would be void. The study also found that a quarter of young drivers struggled to be able to afford to run the car at all, and a third got financial help from their parents.
