The first is quite amusing, and tells how a woman, Denise Rebelato, <a title=\"Woman arrested after she can&rsquo;t pay for $980 cab from New York City to Massachusetts\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/new-york\/woman-pay-980-taxi-bill-nyc-massachusetts-article-1.1605724\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">arriving at JFK Airport took a taxi to her Boston home<\/a> and racked up a $980 fare (that\u2019s about \u00a3600) for the 200 mile journey \u2013 which she couldn\u2019t afford to pay. She could have taken a bus for $35. According to the story, she sounds like a right fruitcake.<\/p>\n<p>The <a title=\"Cop pays for man's cab home after he walks 30 miles to make court date\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/news\/national\/pays-cab-fare-man-walked-30-miles-court-article-1.1577809\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second story is quite heart-warming<\/a>. A man identified only as \u201cJames\u201d was involved in a motor accident, for which he received a ticket. In order to attend court over the matter, and since his car had been written-off in the accident, he left his shelter (he\u2019s homeless) at 1am in sub-zero temperatures (it was \u201310, and since we\u2019re talking about the USA, that must be \u201310 Fahrenheit \u2013 or -23\u00b0C in British money) in order to walk the 30 miles to the courthouse. A cop, Andy Blimline, who was at the courthouse couldn\u2019t believe James had walked and paid his $80 taxi fare back to the shelter after the hearing.
