Pentahotels has labelled the toilet doors in one of its branches as shown in the picture below.<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 524px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 524\/483;background-image: none; float: left; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin: 5px 10px 5px 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px; border: 0px;\" title=\"Pentahotels' toilet signs\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/toilets.jpg\" alt=\"Pentahotels' toilet signs\" width=\"524\" height=\"483\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" class=\"lazyload\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As you can probably guess, this was perfectly OK (and passably amusing) until it was noticed by a professional feminist and complainist \u2013 in this case, someone called Cassie Chadderton \u2013 who is \u201chead of UK Theatre\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>She demands to know if Pentahotels know that we are \u201cin the 21st century\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In a further tweet to an unrepentant Pentahotels, she says that they are \u201creinforcing outdated gender stereotypes\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>No they\u2019re not, Cassie. They\u2019re using a very valid generalisation. You can pretend that women are the same as men all you want, but the reality is that \u2013 in general \u2013 the signs make a realistic distinction between male and female toilets based on a realistic generalisation of the very real general differences between the sexes.<\/p>\n<p>They could have painted a penis on one door and a vagina on the other, and Cassie Chadderton (or some other obnoxious person of similarly flawed character) would probably have seen that as an \u201coutdated gender stereotype\u201d, too.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of men don\u2019t like football, but I doubt that they\u2019re offended by having to use a toilet stall with a door which implies that they do. It\u2019s only feminists and serial complainists who seem to see offence in things like this \u2013 and who, incidentally, are happy to stereotype everyone they disagree with as \u201csexist\u201d.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This story in the Huffington Post made me smile.
