He hasn&#8217;t been to Jamaica &#8211; where he thinks he may still have family &#8211; since 1974. He is now 89 years old and&#8230; well, you can understand what that means. He has been ill and age is taking its toll. It would seem that one big reason he hasn&#8217;t been back earlier is that there was a damned good chance <a title=\"BBC - Windrush Scandal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/topics\/c9vwmzw7n7lt\/windrush-scandal\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this country wouldn&#8217;t let him back in again<\/a>. However, he now has a UK passport and assurance of his citizenship.<\/p>\n<p>He lives with his carer, who herself deserves a medal for what she is doing, and obviously cannot afford such a trip himself (he lives in a deprived area of Nottingham).
