Loads of people have had COVID-19 without realising it<\/strong><\/p>\n

Official ONS statistics suggest 0.25% of the population has had COVID-19 as of the time this claim was made. That\u2019s not \u2018loads\u2019. It\u2019s actually a very small proportion \u2013 one four hundredth of the population, in fact.<\/p>\n

Update: The government is now saying up to 20% \u2018have had it\u2019. I\u2019m not sure how they know that, since only 3 million tests have been done, and most of those were on people in hospital, on the frontline, or with symptoms. Test 3 million people who are in the thick of it (or in hospital), and you will get far different results compared with testing 3 million people who have been in almost complete isolation for the last two months.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s just flu<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tell that to the 35,000 of the 0.25% (or 20%) who have died from it in just a little over three months.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve had it, so I\u2019m safe<\/strong><\/p>\n

And you can now leap tall buildings in a single bound. But assuming you have<\/strong> had it \u2013 a lot of ignorant people are convinced they have because they had a \u2018bad cold and a cough\u2019 around Christmas, and ignore the ONS figure of only 0.25% (or latest government claim of 20%) of the population likely to have – you can still spread it around. And no one is sure yet if you can get it again \u2013 which you probably will be able to, based on other coronaviruses.<\/p>\n

Yes you can. Perhaps not by coughing it out, but certainly by picking it up on your hands and transferring it by touching things.<\/p>\n

The government said most cases are very mild<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yes. And 0.25% (or 20%) of the population has apparently had it, and 35,000 people have died as a result. Multiply 35,000 by 400 (or 5), and that\u2019s potentially how many could die if the whole population got it based on what\u2019s happened so far. It\u2019s unlikely to be as high as that, but it\u2019s still a Big Number.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
