However, this is 40% down since the cameras were introduced &#8211; though the story makes it clear that the reduction is not entirely due to cameras.<\/p>\n<p>Yet government cutbacks mean that cameras across the country are going to have to be taken out.<\/p>\n<p>The Herald says:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080\">The Government&#8217;s view, expressed through the Department of Transport, is a mealy-mouthed abdication of that responsibility, on this issue. While it says it would &#8220;expect road safety to remain a priority&#8221; it has removed the ring-fencing on grants so that local authorities can make up their own mind where they spend the funds they raise. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>It isn&#8217;t getting much right, is it?
