{"id":8961,"date":"2012-05-09T15:16:06","date_gmt":"2012-05-09T15:16:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=8961"},"modified":"2012-05-09T15:16:06","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T15:16:06","slug":"dsa-alert-rules-for-cyclists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/diaryofanadi.co.uk\/?p=8961","title":{"rendered":"DSA Alert: Rules For Cyclists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The DSA has come up trumps with  this reminder to cyclists about how <strong>THEY<\/strong> should behave on the roads.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Rule 66 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">You should <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">keep both hands on the handlebars except when signalling or changing gear <\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">keep both feet on the pedals <\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">never ride more than two abreast, and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads and when riding round bends <\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">not ride close behind another vehicle <\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">not carry anything which will affect your balance or may get tangled up with your wheels or chain <\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000080;\">be considerate of other road users, particularly blind and partially sighted pedestrians. Let them know you are there when necessary, for example, by ringing your bell if you have one. It is recommended that a bell be fitted <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a title=\"Highway Code - Full Rules for Cyclists\" href=\"http:\/\/www.direct.gov.uk\/en\/TravelAndTransport\/Highwaycode\/DG_069837\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Read all the rules for cyclists (59-82)<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>It\u2019s almost laughable in some respects. You could probably count on the fingers of one hand the number of cyclists who are even aware that there are rules they\u2019re supposed to follow, let alone be prepared to abide by them.<\/p>\n<p>The Spandex boys &#8211; the ones who think they\u2019re athletes, but aren\u2019t &#8211; are the worst offenders. This year already seems much worse than usual.
