I wrote about this way back in August 2010<\/a>, when it was announced that private wheel clamping was to be banned. It just goes to show how long it can be between something \u201cgoing to happen\u201d and it \u201cactually happening\u201d.<\/p>\n

The DSA has just issued this alert which says that the ban will come into force on 1 October, 2012. So, more than two years after it \u201cgoing to happen\u201d!<\/p>\n

In effect, this will ban most clamping and towing by anyone other than the police, local authorities, government agencies such as the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) – plus other bodies acting in accordance with statutory or other powers, such as railway stations and airports. <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
